This capital of the Province of the same name is an important transport interchange for many of the Itineraries out of Alghero (A1 - A5), however it is also worth a visit, and if time allows a stroll up Corso Vittorio Emanuele 2 through the old part of town to the impressive Piazza Italia, with diversions to the Duomo and Piazza Tola, maybe followed by a cafι in one of the Bars on Via Roma or near Piazza Italia would be a couple of hours well spent.
If you succeed in making it from the train or bus station all the way to the Tourist office at the far end of Via Roma on your own then you probably wont need one of their maps anymore anyway. Arrive with your own map to save time and energy.
The Train and Bus stations are conveniently close to one another at the Western end of the old part of town with both FdS and FS trains using the same station. Exiting from the Train station cross the small Piazza Stazione and turn right into either Via XXV Aprile or Corso Vico (tree lined street) both of which take you in less than 100m to the Bus Station (more like a Bus Parking area) running between the two streets. There is a ticket office for the FdS and ARST Buses in the Nth East corner of the Bus Station near the steps from Corso Vico. There are several bars along Corso Vico.
Arriving instead at the Bus station, leave the area by the steps next to the ticket office in the Nth East corner to arrive at Corso Vico. Turning left and walking 100m will put you in front of Piazza Station on your left.
To find Corso Vittorio Emanuele 2 for a wander through the shopping district, exit the Train station and turn left onto Corso Vico for around 100m till you find the Piazza on your right which marks the start of this street running through the heart of the old quarter. Or better still go straight out of the station, cross Corso Vico and dive into the narrow streets hoping to bump into the Duomo at some stage.
There is a left luggage office at the Sassari Train station which is usually open from early morning to early evening, maybe with a break for lunch, but it would be wise to check the times.

The B&B Il Pavone is one of a row of houses and part of a quiet and exclusive residential complex that is surrounded by the greenery of the nearby valley and famous Monte Bianchino, traditional destination for trips outside the city walls and now a famous residential area with exclusive villas and the Le Querce sports complex.
The B&B is also close to the new residential area built around important city structures such as the football stadium, the city sports centre, the swimming pools, the Luna e Sole commercial centre and the vast Piazza Segni.
The area is on the urban bus routes 7, 8 (centrale) and 3, and a fine tree-lined avenue leads to the University Arts Faculty which, at the northern end of Via Roma, marks the beginning of the city centre. Our B&B is, therefore, excellently placed for work, relaxation and study in every season of the year.

The house is on four levels and the rooms, each with its private bathroom, are on the 1st and 2nd floors. On the ground floor, on the other hand, are to be found the breakfast room and the garden with its large covered patio. Here, in good weather, breakfast can be taken. From June till October the latter may include, on request, soft fruit from the family farm.

Situated at 6, Via Arborea, in the heart of Sassari, the TORRE TONDA Bed and Breakfast is very near Piazza Castello, Piazza d'Italia, the theatre and the university. It is only 20 metres from the taxi stand, 100 metres from the bus and coach station and 350 metres from the railway station.
The Torre Tonda B&B is situated on the third floor of a characteristic period building in the old part of Sassari. Sassari is the main city in the north of Sardinia. It is 15 km from Port Torres, 35 km from Alghero and Castelsardo, 75 km from Bosa and about 100 km from Santa Teresa, Olbia and Palau. So the Torre Tonda B&B is an excellent starting point from which to visit these and other less well known destinations.
